Loving our new bed!

Hard to capture a good shot with phone but love my new...

We started off our week by joining our friend Pat Cooper for lunch before she returns to Kalama, Washington. Enjoyed the soup & salad at Olive Garden as well as Pat's company, lol. Can't believe I forgot to take a pic!

Tuesday we gave Onyx a much needed bath & then went to a matinee movie, seeing 'Unbroken', a 2014 American war drama film, produced and directed by Angelina Jolie, and based on the 2010 non-fiction book by Laura Hillenbrand Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. The film revolves around the life of USA Olympian and athlete Louis "Louie" Zamperini, portrayed by Jack O'Connell. Zamperini, who died on July 2, 2014, at the age of 97, survived in a raft for 47 days after his bomber was downed in WWII, and was sent to a series of prisoner of war camps. Wow, it was an amazing film, well acted & directed but quite intense. We are glad we went & give it a big thumbs up!

Wednesday was a shopping day, not our favorite thing to do. However, we've been looking for a new mattress for quite awhile & finally settled on one after testing out several makes & models. We all know you can't really get a good 'feel' for one by lying on it for 10 minutes in the store but what other option is there? Anyway, it didn't take long before we'd lie down on one & immediately say 'nope', not this one. Better, but not quite right. Maybe???? Oh man, this is harder than I thought, lol! Of course the one I really wanted was the most expensive in the store & way out of our budget but I think we finally settled for a good, affordable option. We're going to try it a couple of ways, one night with our memory foam topper & the second night without. So, I'll let you know what we think on down the road.

Yesterday we spent the day doing chores around the house, including installing rope lights above the kitchen cabinets. Larry had to drill a hole through three of the shelves in order to run a power cord from the outlet to the top & that took some time. The space was pretty tight for the drill. We installed a timer as well so we won't have to deal with turning them on & off which will make it nice for Onyx too. She'll have light in case we're not home from an afternoon jaunt & it gets dark. Plus, we like the ambiance! We used incandescent rope instead of the new brighter LED ones for a 'warmer, homier feel'...

Today I am cleaning the carpets, an ongoing battle around here! Would love to replace all of the flooring & that will happen just as soon as we hit the lottery. Of course, we'd have to play in order to win, right? I love our home & there isn't much I would change about it, but the flooring is right up there on the top of the list, lol.

Tomorrow is Larry's birthday & we are celebrating not only his, but niece Cindy's birthday as well, with a homemade chicken & noodle dinner, made by Bonnie of course. Cake & ice cream to follow too!

Grandson Ryan is on his way from Oregon today. He has enrolled & been accepted in the UNLV Dental School program. So proud of him & can't wait to see him & his girlfriend Emily. I just read on FB that they are stranded in rural Nevada with a flat tire on their rental truck. And there is no spare? What the heck? Anyway, we'll be glad when they arrive safely later this evening & can't wait to see them.

So, that's it for now. Thanks so much for stopping by & we'll talk again real soon. Have a wonderful day :)
