We have finally arrived in Missoula, Montana. Our travel day started out wonderful, but the ending was a nightmare. We saw more incredible views while driving the Lewis & Clark Trail through parts of Idaho. We had worried a bit about crossing the Lolo Pass. It is over 5,000 feet and they had snow the night before. We were happy to see it was okay to pass. It was beautiful, but, for about 90 miles of the drive, the roads were curved and all the movement really shook a lot of stuff in the RV up. We heard a loud crash, I went back to see what it was. My computer had crashed on the floor and part of the corner was cracked. It still works at least. :-)
Next, a multitude of problems started when we arrived in Missoula. Our GPS did not like the address we put in, so we had to follow the printed directions to the campsite. We took the wrong road and ended up in a high-class housing subdivision, with no place to turn the motorhome around. Jerry un-hooked the car and I drove it out of the way while he "BACKED" all the way out of the fancy housing lane. We got a lot of attention with this episode. :-) He finally got it out and hooked the car back up. We got back on the Interstate and went the WRONG way AGAIN. We finally got off an exit where we could turn around and find the campground.
By the time we arrived, the campground was closed. They did leave directions on what area to park the RV and where to leave the payment, etc. etc. We picked a spot and parked and got the jacks set up and it said "SLOPE". That is not the word you want to see after a day like today. We moved to "TWO" other sites before we found one that was level enough to park, then... guess what? We found out the water didn't work at the site. We used our holding tank water for showers and went to bed and said we would deal with the rest tomorrow. Well, the next morning, we had to move AGAIN, this was the FOURTH time we moved the RV. They only have the water available at certain sites this time of year because of freezing temperatures.
I am very happy to report we are finally in our site for the week, all set up and happy again. If all travel days were like this one, we would move back into our house in a flash. :-) Stay tuned for more updates from Montana, hopefully, much happier ones.
