|I slept great last night, all the way until 4:15 this morning. I awakened and wondered what time it was so I got up and went to the bathroom to turn on a light, so that I could see my wrist watch.
I then decided that I should have stayed in bed or at least I could go back to sleep for awhile.
Next thing I knew it was 20 to 7:00 and I woke Marilyn to begin getting ready for the day. By this time we were anchored in the bay at Patmos, Greece.
We enjoyed a nice breakfast at the buffet before going to the gathering lounge for the tender into the port town.
The 25 mph wind made it feel as if it were much cooler and we wore jackets today.
The bus was waiting and the tour began with a visit to the Grotto where St John lived for 18 months after being exiled from Ephasus.
It was here in Patmos that he wrote the book of Revelations.
It was an interesting experience to walk in these holy sites.
In fact the entire Island has been designated as a world heritage site and the Greek government declared Patmos a “Sacred Island” in 1981.
The tour also took us to the Monastery of St John, a museum, and then a restaurant to sample Greek food, wine and enjoy folk dancing. Think “Zorba the Greek” to come close to the experience.
Marilyn & I caught the last two seats on the tender, which left the port as soon as we were on board, and we were back on the ship by 1:00 PM.
I have decided to do a summary of this cruise for you, along with pictures, after we return to Hannibal.
There is just too much to try to put it in this journal as we live it.
We look forward to getting together each night with new friends, and enjoying the wonderful tours each day.
I will try to get this journal entry posted for you and then I should be all caught up on things until tomorrow.
I hope you are enjoying the trip.
