Before leaving the area, I took a 90-minute cruise on Coeur d'Alene Lake. It is the second largest lake in the state with over 135 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 120 feet. It is 35 miles long. It is fed by the St. Joe and Coeur d'Alene Rivers and drained by the Spokane River.
It is a beautiful lake. There are many large houses on its banks, most of which can be reached only by boat. Since the lake rarely freezes over, this usually is not a problem.
