|I can't believe it's Thanksgiving once again. 2014 has certainly flown by quickly. As you know, Larry & I are here in Ely, Nevada visiting with Mom. And sister Lori & her hubby Marion too, of course. Niece Tiffany (Lori's daughter) & her family arrived from San Diego around noon yesterday to share this special holiday weekend with us. We had a good time catching up with them last night, so good to see them all again!
Thank goodness the weather has been reasonably good this whole month. Very cold, but no snow to speak of. Makes for easier traveling for those on the roads. I wish we could be with each & every one of you but of course, that's not possible. So, if you are traveling over the holiday, be safe. Even near home! What is it they say, most accidents occur within 5 miles of home???
And now, a bit of trivia for you:
Did you know that almost 400 years ago, after surviving their first winter at Plymouth, the Pilgrims celebrated a harvest feast to give thanks? And, are you aware that George Washington proclaimed the first National Day of Thanksgiving in 1789, and that Abraham Lincoln revived the tradition during the Civil War? Our Founders thanked the Almighty and humbly sought His wisdom and blessing. May we always live by that same trust, and may God continue to watch over and bless each and every one of you.
May you all share a warm and wonderful day with those you love...And, don't eat too much! It makes you sleepy :)
