Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

We've arrived...

We are in site ten, no trees but that's ok, our satellite...

View out our livingroom windows...

Pretty view on the way to Mom's, there's a faint rainbow trying...

The storm clouds are gathering...

Larry wanted me to point out that not all Nevadan's are dumb!....

Larry and Dad...

He's not smiling, but he liked it!

Blow Dad, blow!

And Mandy just loved the bag...

We had a nice time at Dad's birthday party. Mom baked a ham for dinner which is a favorite of mine so I enjoyed the meal very much! When we were children we always chose our birthday 'meal' and I chose baked ham every time. Mashed potatoes & gravy, scalloped corn, green beans and cole slaw rounded out the rest of the meal. With cake and ice cream of course. We only put one candle on this year as Dad doesn't have much oxygen to blow with. Good thing, he struggled with just one. COPD is not much fun. Not to harp on anyone, but if you are still smoking you really ought to consider giving it up. Dad sure wishes he hadn't smoked 3 packs a day for 50 years. Lung cancer is a serious part of his health now. It's a daily struggle. Thankfully, he is hanging in there without too much discomfort. Of course he is on oxygen 24/7 now. I am fortunate that I never acquired the habit. I understand it's a tough one to break.

We had a few warmer than usual days and then a cold front arrived. The winds were enough today that we were a bit concerned about our awnings. We have them anchored down fairly well, so hopefully they'll ride the next few days out. A few sprinkles moved into the valley but didn't stay long. I was actually looking forward to a shower or two. There's a slight chance again tomorrow but I'll believe it when I see it. We're planning to do a bit of sight-seeing in the morning so hope it's light if it does.

The highs are back down in the 60's during the day and the 40's at night. I keep changing the bedding, first for summer, then for winter, then for summer and now back for winter! Sheesh...My Cube space saver is staying out for the next week or so while the weatherman makes up his mind! Actually I ordered a new bedspread and shams and am looking forward to their delivery. After three years, it's time for a change. I love Overstock, don't you?

Well, time to hit the sack. We'd like to get a reasonably early start and as you may already know, we don't do mornings well. Oh, my 'new', used replacement Canon A-540 from Amazon arrived yesterday. I took a few shots with it this afternoon. Seems to be fine. But will be glad when my Nikon D-50 is done being cleaned. I sure miss it! I tried to capture 2 finches on their sack this afternoon but not much luck. Needed a better zoom. But I'll get them later, for sure! Good night....
