After spending three days in Yangon, I flew to Inle Lake, in part to escape the unbearable heat of Yangon (35-40 degrees C). Most travellers make a stop at Inle lake for some relaxation and to visit the villages that surround or are built over the lake. The main accommodation area is the village of Nyaungshwe, north of the lake along the Nan Chaung canal. I hired a boat with a Frenchman, Dominic, and we explored the many villages within the lake. The villagers manufacture a variety of products including paper, cloth, jewelry, cigars, and parasols.
