The Adventure Begins. STL to EWK
Oct 4, 2010
|We had a very nice, clean and neat room at the Drury Inn at the airport in St Louis, but we awoke off and on all night long.
I finally rolled out of bed at a quarter to five this morning, took a shower, and dressed for the day.
Marilyn was ready to go before I was and we walked down the hall to a nice breakfast of biscuits and gravy, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. It was all free, which made it even better.
It was a short ride on the shuttle bus, to the terminal at the airport, and the check-in process went smoothly.
After the normal “Chinese Fire Drill” getting through security, we located our gate and sat down to wait for the call to board.
The weather in St Louis was super with clear skies but it was overcast, windy and rainy in New York.
I have flown in here before and the shuttle from one terminal to another was familiar to me.
We found our departure gate and then walked a short distance down the concourse to a restaurant called “Ruby’s” which served mostly burgers, fries and milk shakes.
We ordered a Bleu Burger which had bleu cheese on it, fries, and a milk shake. Marilyn selected strawberry while I opted for chocolate.
The food was plentiful and tasty but the real surprise came when I got the bill. $43.58 with a $5.00 tip. Ouch!!
Yep, this is New York for sure.
So, as I write this, we are sitting in New York looking at the rain run down the window panes which separate us from the numerous aircraft sitting outside being prepared for a flight to unknown destinations somewhere around the world.
Flights to Hong Kong and Tel Aviv have been called but we do not leave for another 2 and ½ hours.
We don’t mind the wait too bad because it is fun to spend the time just “People Watching”.
We have a flight of nearly 10 hours ahead of us yet tonight, and that will not be fun! We will be dragging our behinds, behind us, by the time we land in Athens, Greece, tomorrow morning.
It will be good to see George waiting for us, and to get to the Hotel where we can hit the sack for a couple of hours.
I don’t know if I will be able to post this before we leave but I intend to try.
No matter, because we are off on an adventure.
Life is Good!
