We left Nichols RV by 3:30 PM with our new hitch. Our GPS said we would be in Fort DeSoto by 6:30PM - after dusk. It actually took much longer due to Tampa traffic and we entered the Fort DeSoto campground after the campground office had closed. What an adventure we had finding our campsite in the pitch dark and we even managed to empty the holding tanks in the dark at the dump station (thanks to a good accessory light under the RV!). We had leftovers from the dinner with Bob & Kathy the previous night.
We just rested in the morning after our traumatic experience with the hitch which seemed to work well on its first trial. After lunch, we explored the North and East beaches on this island park and later watched a beautiful sunset right outside our campsite.
