Attack #11-Lost in Lompoc
24 May - Larry, his squad, and I, arrived early at the designated attack starting point, but as muster time drew near, no other solders were to be found. We’d been duped, but after a SOS call to the commander we were informed that the battle assembly area had been relocated. In addition to not being able to locate the proper starting point, we all got lost and confused shortly after the march began, which is not unusual for SAAD solders. A new housing area in town had changed the name of a street and it threw us for a loop. After a lengthy debate, we agreed on a revised attack plan and continued the march. A few of us hearty souls (aka fools) made a noncompulsory attack on a hill for a view to die for, and we almost did.

Following the attack, we preceded about 30 miles to the Walmart in Santa Maria. Shortly after arriving there, I was confronted by Paul Blart, the mall cop. He was actually quite accommodating and politely instructed us on where to position our AVs so it would be quieter and more secure. However, during the night, a stealth operator attached flyers to our vehicles stating it was illegal to park overnight here, but nobody bothered us and we did enjoy a very quiet night and didn’t even notice the flyers until it was time to get underway the next morning.

Mission Status for day 9 of 16: Completed 11th of 21 scheduled attacks for a total of 104 miles on the ground and 650 convoy miles.
