View from San Marino

Roy - feeling cold....

View towards the Adriatic Sea

Today it was time to say good bye to Venice and head back to Rome. Moat of the trip was pretty uneventful, just passing through flat Italian countryside until we got to the tiy City State Of San Marino. Perched high on the top of a hill it was well worth a visit even tough it was bitterly cold, being both up high and with a cold wind blowing. We'd taken a few rolls and the like from breakfast and we used those for lunch instead of buying lunch.

San Marino was a pretty neat place, magnificent views to the Appenines and to the Adriatic Sea. The streets were narrow, windy and hilly, full of little shops catering for the tourist trade. San Marino is famous for it 'ripoff' liqueurs and perfumes. We bought a bottle of Amaretto (very nice) and one of a supposed 'Irish Cream' :-).

Then it was off back to Rome, most of the time spent sleeping as we travelled. Back to our original hotel in Rome for another night, even in the same room....
