Sunset from our 5er

Today we left Wichita to begin our journey. The wind was very strong which is not unusual for Kansas, but it turned out to be a headwind for us as we traveled north and northeast, which made the mpg compute to 7.9. OUCH!!

We stopped on the Kansas Turnpike at a rest area, and made a phone call to our RV dealer, to ask if he would like us to bring the trailer in today instead of tomorrow. He said "Sure, bring it in, and we'll see if we can get you all fixed up today, so that you can relax and enjoy tomorrow at your campground".

We arrived at Liberty RV at 1:00 PM. They began working on the few squawks we had on the trailer and they had us finished before 5:00 PM. We were in the Crow's Creek Campground by 5:30 PM, were soon all set up, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the lake. It was a wonderful, relaxing evening but a bit cool. The heat pump did a great job and we were as snug as a bug in a rug.

I just want to say a few words about Liberty RV. They have done everything a dealer could possibly do to assure our enjoyment of the RV experience. When my brake controller was not compatible with the trailer brakes they gave me a new controller, made an appointment to get it installed early the next morning, and then hooked on to our new MS TK3 and pulled it out to the Basswood RV Resort and parked it on the site we were assigned. The owner, Preston, even stayed around long enough to make sure we were level and gave us directions to the shop which would install the brake controller. They also called us to make sure everything was ok. Then when we requested service a day early, it was no problem and they not only got us in, but began work immediately and finished us up so that we could enjoy an extra day in a beautiful campground. Keep in mind that this is all AFTER the sale. I cannot say enough good about the great service we have had from this dealership. Lee Trauernicht (Hope I spelled it correctly) was our salesperson and has been great to work with also.

I must mention that the campground hosts for Crows Creek had left for the season so it was on the honor system. We walked up to the entrance the first morning and left a check in the box provided. We saw two other campers doing the same thing later, so I assume the honor system works quite well for them.

After our early morning walk, we had some breakfast and then drove into the town of Kearney, MO to visit the boyhood home of Frank and Jesse James. They have a nice museum and a personal guided tour of the farmhouse was a treat. We stopped at a grocery store and picked up a few items to make chili soup for dinner. Another great night of sleep.
