Our two rigs at the bluegrass festival

Stage of the bluegrass festival

Stage of the bluegrass festival

1/15 – 1/18

Our caravan of two motorhomes (David, Dianne and us) left Casa Grande at 9:15am heading towards Blythe, California and a bluegrass festival. We were parked at the fairgrounds/race track by 3:00pm California time. One of the first things we did was get our viewing chairs into position; we were a little closer to the stage than our last time at Blythe.

The music at this festival was quite good. The bands we heard were Blue Canyon Boys, The Lonesome River Band, Larry Efaw and the Bluegrass Mountaineers, The Sonoran Dogs, Traditional Bluegrass, Kenny and Amanda Smith, The Central Valley Boys, Town Mountain, The Seldom Scene, Kathy Kallick Band and Bluegrass Brethren. Our favorite bands were The Seldom Scene and The Lonesome River Band.

Traditionally when we go to bluegrass festivals together we have a bridge tournament – men against women. This trip was no exception. The women defeated the men – five rubbers to two.
