November 25-December 14, 2012 – Alamo, Texas

November 25 – Today, I got the bathroom sorted out before I called it a day on work. So, I’m making a little progress on getting rid of things. I got all the windows washed on the inside as well as the mirrors. Since that is the one thing which I really hate to do, I’m glad that it’s done. Tomorrow, I’m going to work on the kitchen.

This afternoon I bought a few Christmas books on Amazon and downloaded them to my Kindle. That about takes care of the day. The rest of the time I took nap and read.

November 26 – I got the kitchen and living room area straightened out. That leaves the dinette area to do tomorrow. That area serves as my computer desk and office area. I have a lot of papers and receipts to sort out and get filed. That will leave the trunk of the car. I’ll have to do that tomorrow as well since the file box where I need to file things is in the trunk.

I sat outside and read for a while this afternoon. It was a nice afternoon to be outside. I hope to get everything in order by the end of the week and then I can get started with the dancing and exercises.

November 26 – Today, I pretty well got the kitchen and living area straightened out. Then, I sat outside and read for a while. Nothing exciting.

November 27 – I got my receipts sorted and ready to be filed. I decided to have lunch out and then went to the grocery store and to Staples. I ran out of envelopes to send out my Christmas letters so I got some more. I mailed the letters I had ready to go and will finish off the others when I can get to the computer again. It has all my addresses in it, and right now the table is covered with the sorted receipts.

November 28 – Today I got the car cleaned out. My filing box was in the trunk so I had to get the trunk cleaned out. I got that done and got the filing done. The box will live in one of the bays of the coach until next spring when it will go back into the trunk. It is heavy, and I need to keep that weight out of the coach. I also brought in some travel books. Tomorrow I will sort through them and decided which ones I will need next summer. The rest I’ll put in storage. I have sorted out things which will go in storage and those which I’m going to get rid of.

Although I had 10 chances on the $580,000,000 Powerball, I didn’t win anything. In fact I only had one number match on one line. So, I won’t be buying my own yacht or anything like that.

November 29 – I finished cleaning out the cabinets and sorting out things that I want to get rid of and things I want to put in storage. I need to get over to the storage bin and get my Christmas decorations out, but I’ll do that tomorrow or the next day.

November 30 – I slept in this morning and then sat outside to read most of the day. It was a perfect day with a nice breeze, and I enjoyed just sitting around and doing nothing.

December 1 – Today was a carbon copy of yesterday. I’ve finished reading all my Christmas themed books and will have to get some more.

December 2 – Another carbon copy day.

December 3 – I made it over to the storage bin today and got out the Christmas decorations. When I got back I decided that sitting outside and reading was a lot more fun than putting up the decorations so that’s what I did.

December 4 – I got the coach washed and waxed today. There are a couple of young men who make their living by washing and waxing coaches. They do a good job, and the coach really needed it.

I checked out the exercise water class and the water aerobics today. I’m going to start tomorrow with water aerobics and on Thursday will try to water exercise class. I’m not sure that I really understand the difference so will try both. Water aerobics is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 while the water exercises are every day of the week at 9. So, I can get some kind of water exercise every weekday.

Today is the 1st day I’ve had the AC on. I had to close up the windows so they could wash the coach, and it got hot in here. Once I turned on the AC I just left it on. I’ll turn it off tonight and have the windows open again tomorrow.

December 5 – I finally made it to the water aerobics today. There were only 4 of us, but it was a good workout.

When I got back to the coach, I found that I had been “ho ho ho”ed. There was a Christmas bag with a candle and a red place mat on my door step. There was a letter which explained that I had been “ho ho ho”ed and that I had 24 hours to make 2 copies of the letter and prepare 2 bags to give to someone else. I was to be stealthy in my presentation of the bags. I was also to tape the copy of the instructions I had received to the window so no one would “ho ho ho” me again. So, I put together 2 bags and about 10 tonight I slipped out and put the bags on 2 people’s porches. The goal is that everyone will have received a bag by Christmas day. The bags I prepared had a Christmas ornament, a package of Christmas Kleenex and some wrapped Christmas candy. It’s a fun thing to do. I’m just glad that I got tagged early so that I didn’t have to hunt all over the park to find a place to drop off my bags.

December 6 – I did both the water exercises and the water aerobics today. I also got the coach decorated for Christmas.

Both yesterday and today, the water was turned off. The Alamo Water District had a major water main failure. It was off about 2 hours yesterday and about an hour or so today. Of course, it was just as I came back from the pool. I could have used the water in the holding tanks, but I had pretty well emptied that out, and I wasn’t sure that I had enough for a shower. Fortunately, it wasn’t log until the water came back on.

December 7 – Today I did a bit of shopping. I really hate shopping so I spent most of the day getting a few things which I needed. I thought today would be better than tomorrow which is a Saturday.

December 8 – I ran down to Mercedes to the outlet mall as I needed some new underwear. I was there when they opened so I was able to get in and out without any trouble. The parking lot was pretty empty when I got there, but it was almost full by the time I left.

December 9 – I spent the day reading. It was overcast and threatening rain although it never did.

December 10 – A cold front came through early this morning. I didn’t do any water exercise today because it was only about 40 – much too cold to be in the water – even a heated pool. I just kept on reading today and doing some crossword puzzles. I had to turn the furnace on.

December 11 – It was cold again today, and I had the furnace running all day. Another day of just reading and doing crosswords.

December 12 – It was warmer today, but it was still not warm enough to get into the pool. I did get a few bills paid.

December 12 – Today was warmer, but it was a square dance day. This was my first foray into dancing down here. It did not go well. There was no one for me to dance with so I just came home. I did stop on the way home at Staples. They had a good deal on AA batteries, and I needed some so I stopped to get some.

December 13 – It was warm enough to do water exercises today. I decided not to try to square dance today because there was no one yesterday for me to dance, and they told me that they didn’t know of any singles so it didn’t seem to be any reason to go.

I read the paper and then did some work on the computer this morning so it was noon before I heard about the terrible news from Newtown, Connecticut. It is just unbelievable to me. I’ve watched the news all afternoon. There are some incredible teachers who did a good job of keeping many of the students safe.

Starting next week, I’m just going to write weekly as life is quiet, and I’m not doing anything exciting.
