Joe and Ingrid's Alaska Trip travel blog

Well this was an interesting one! Passed through pine forests, big rock outcroppings and tall smoke stacks, scrubby trees, farms and back into tall pines. The Trans Canada highway took us past Ottawa and along the North Channel of Lake Huron. Passed over the Soo Locks at Sault St. Marie (Soo Saint Marie). Fascinating to see. Next was customs where things got interesting.

We were detained for about an hour while Border agents went through the trailer and confiscated 2 oranges, 4 lemons and 2 limes. I didn't know that citrus fruit was a no-no. We were not alone, several other couples 3 with dogs were there too. We'd anticipated questions over Colden, none there they didn't even look at his paperwork...no clue about citrus fruit.

Anyway, after that and our 3rd gas fill up for the day we were on our way to Mackinaw City/Mackinac Is KOA. Arrived around 4:30, set up, took Colden for a 2 mile hike through the woods, ate in and chilled for the evening.
