Arriving at the Sydney Airport

Famous Sydney Opera House

We made it to Sydney...finally after a 14 hour flight from San Franciso! It was a great flight as far as 14 hour flights go. Qantas certainly knows how to serve their customers. They served supper, snack, beverages, and breakfast...all without charge! We landed at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, which was about 3:00 Monday afternoon at home.

It took us a little over 2 hours to get through immigration, claim our bags, go through customsm do a little currency exchanging and load our bus for the hotel. Our hotel is in the Darling Harbor area of Sydney where there are lots and lots of restaruants, shops, harbor cruises, museums, and many other things for the tourists. We chose a restaurant that served kangaroo and several of us tried it...tastes just like beef! Homestly!

Then some of us walked to a neighborhood known as "The Rocks" where there were great views of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge. We even walked half ways across the bridge. They offer bridge climbs where one can walk across the top of the bridge with a guide, but we weren't that daring!

Everyone is really exhausted tonight, so we'll try and get a good night's sleep...ready for the day tomorrow!
