Beth really did go up to the top of the tower

We drove into Great Smoky Mountains National Park. After stopping in the Visitor's Center we went to Newfound Gap on the North Carolina/Tennessee border. Our next stop was Clingmans Dome, the highest point in Tennessee. We took the half mile walk up a steep trail to go to the top of a tower for a better view. The view was awesome and the weather was perfect - cool and clear. The Appalachian Trail crosses the road at Newfound Gap. We plan to take a short hike on it later in the week.
