Lunch break!
Left Calgary around 9:30am, bound for Cranbrook.
Decided to take H2 south to High River and then head west on a secondary road to pick up H22 at the Bar U Ranch. Rationale was that we would miss the big hills around Longview. Big mistake! The secondary road had many gravel sections and reduced speed to 55-60 kph in areas. It was only 30 kilometers or so, but took half an hour to get there.
Once on H22, speed improved and we ended up having lunch at Lundbreck Falls. At 12:30, we headed off again towards Fernie. Weather is getting worse and between Fernie and Cranbrook it rained most of the way. Toad battery was drained when we got to Mt Baker RV Park.
It's cold today. Not raining at Cranbrook, but windy and cloudy. Temperature is around 10 degrees C. Not a good first day of vacation.
