We left Hope about 8:00am this morning and decided to take the Fraser Canyon route to Kamloops instead of the shorter Coquihalla. Neither of us had driven on the Fraser Canyon route for at least 20 years - it was a real nice change. Much better than the 'coke'! Great scenery all the way through the canyon and with the added passing lanes and highway improvements, it is a much easier drive than it used to be. I would definitely take this route again. Again, our Silverado Duramax had no problems at all with any of the grades and the 'tow-haul' mode was perfect for controlling the speed going down the steep hills.
We arrived at the Salmon Arm KOA just before 3:00pm and checked into a really nice treed pull-thru site that gave us easy access to the swimming pool, store and shower facilities. This KOA is absolutely spotless - everything about it is first rate. Too bad we are only spending 2 nights here as we could easily spend more time.
The temps were in the mid 30's C so the pool was a great place to cool off - we both went swimming a few times a day. At night, it cooled right down to just under 20 C so we didn't have to run the a/c all night - just for a few hours before we turned in.
Mo and Molly update: both are doing just fine and enjoying lot's of walks around the campgrounds. They are both excellent in the back of the truck - no problems at all. Mo just lays back there and sleeps while Molly pops up once in a while to see what's going on.
Bright and early tomorrow morning, it's off to Calgary to visit Erin and Rhett, and, maybe take in some of the Stampede while we're there - we'll have to see how the crowds are and how hot it is.
