After a slight delay as we sat idling in the middle of the waterway waiting for the swingbridge to be pushed open manually after it ceased up we were on our way on day #2 of our adventure. We passed through 6 locks (Gamebridge, Thorah, Portage, Talbot, Bolsover and Kirkfield). After we passed through Kirkfield lock we tied up and stopped for lunch. We walked down the long flight of stairs to the street and found a restaurant but after sitting at a table for 10 minutes waiting to be served we left, returned to the boat and the Captain made grilled cheese sandwiches. At 5 p.m. we tied up at the free dock in Coboconk on Balsalm Lake, a well kept secret and walked into town to the IGA to pick up a few groceries. We are close to Mom and Dad Wood's place in Minden here and will visit with them one last time before we head on.
Within a couple of hundred feet of the dock we found not only a laundrymat but a video rental store where we purchased internet access for only $10 for the duration of our stay. The Captain tracked down a replacement cable for our chartplotter in the U.S. and is having it shipped to Peterborough where we will pick it up in a few days.
