My only nod to welcoming in the new year was to attend church this morning. My chill bump forecast told me that it would be too cold for outdoor activities. We had a “One Voice” service, which is a single service with all the traditional, contemporary and Spanish-languish groups. Our Spanish-language pastor preached in Spanish, even though he speaks excellent English. It was interpreted by a woman with excellent language skills.
A few of my park neighbors used some fireworks tonight, even though they are illegal inside the city. I hope they were dressed for the weather.
The weather is extremely cold for this part of the country. A hard freeze is predicted for south central Texas from today until Wednesday. I have a full fresh-water tank, so I’m not worried about water usage. I turned off the faucet and bled the water hose. I hope that’s enough to avoid freeze damage.
