What a fun day hiking in Brandywine Falls! We started our morning with a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs at home, then we headed out to Brandywine Falls. We walked around the trail and passed the Brandywine Inn. The falls were beautiful and the Inn looked charming! Unfortunately, a section of the bridge was out so we were not able to go all the way around the trail, but the walk was pretty and peaceful just the same.
We made our way to the ledges via a quick stop at Appalachian Outfitters for a few snacks. (I found a pumpkin pie cliff bar and Patrick bought some jerky and a few caramels) Yum! Next we headed over to Virginia Kendall's ledges to do our second hike.
Kendalls Ledges were equally beautiful. We climbed through the crevice into the grotto for a better view. It's amazing what nature can do to huge stone formations. It was interesting seeing the movements of the stone, the ferns and the various mosses growing.
