The trip is about to begin.....Mar 18, 2005

We booked our plane tickets yesterday and have finalized an itinerary for what should be an incredible trip throughout South East Asia starting April 10th. You can find details on the itinerary page of this site.
This is a trip both Natalya and I have dreamed about for years. We have always talked about how amazing it would be to travel through South East Asia, and to work overseas. We finally have decided to do it while we have the opportunity. In just a few weeks time we have managed to sell the house, the car, leave our jobs and prepare everything needed to set out and explore the world!
We will start with a quick four day tour of Hong Kong, and then on to Bangkok. We have the first three nights in Bangkok booked, and then from there our itinerary is wide open. We hope to visit friends in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Singapore over a 4-5 month period and then continue on to Japan where we have 1 year working visas.
Along the way we plan to take Thai cooking courses, maybe spend some time working on an overseas volunteer project, do some surfing and snorkelling, trek to remote spots in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, and get to know some more about a part of the world that has always fascinated us. Also thanks to many hard earned starwood points and aeroplan miles we plan to stay at some amazing hotels and resorts throughout Asia.
We will also be doing something we have always wanted to try, travel writing and photography. Natalya has already had some of her work published in Travel & Leisure and Enroute Magazines, and also had her photography of Cuba displayed at an Ottawa gallery. My writing in the last few years has been limited to briefing notes and itineraries for the Prime Minister, but I have always wanted to write about some of the unbelievalbe places around the world I have had a chance to visit .
We plan to update this site regularly with our writing and photography as we work our way around the world and we would love to hear what you think of it.
