We left Danbury 8:30 Fri night on schedule and stopped in a rest area somewhere in Pa. about midnight.
Awoke Sat am. to a heavy fog, but new we were heading west. After colliding (and killing) a huge black bird somewhere on rte 80 in Pa. we continued on. Roe and I shared the driving under clear sunny skies until Illinois, where we encountered a violent thunder storm, telling Steven and Deanna (no joke) to keep a look out for funnel clouds.
Our original route plan was to take rte 80 through Iowa and then head north to Sioux Falls and then west again on rte 90 to Rapid City SD. But because of the flooding in Iowa we decided to go north from Chicago on rte 90 through Wisconsin and Minn. We arrived at WI state line about 8 pm Sat night and stopped at an RV travel plaza to rest.
