Roam China 2008 travel blog

The flight ver was fairly relaxed. It took 8 hours and we slept most of the way. A brief stop over in Hong Kong before another 4 hour flight to Beijing. I was lucky enough to have a whole row to myself so I stretched out for the first time in 12 hours, felt every bone in my back crack and drifted off to sleep like a baby for four hours! We had Mr Chen pick us up at the airport and take us on a forty minute drive to Beijing City Central Hostel. OH MY the traffic here is crazy. We had about 10 near death experiences (one by being squished in the middle of two busses converging) A few quick prayers later and we made it safely to our hotel for a cool shower and nanna nap. I am not sure where we got the energy from but we then walked 3 km's to Tiananmen Square. You wouldn't believe how big it is.... 122 acres! It is big enough to hold half a million people. It was amzing to stand in the place where history had witnessed the cChinese people's struggle against foreign aaggression and reactionary rule, namely the rallies of 89'.
