Our group of eight left out of Lubbock at 7:40 a.m. this morning for a short flight to Houston. Our group included Boyd & I, Mary McCanlies and Louise Lust of Littlefield, Gene and Beverly Coleman, and Ron and Lavetta Coleman of Anton. It was 11 degrees as we left, with de-icing the plane necessary before we could take off. We arrived in Houston on time and had to make our way to the "D" terminal from the "B" where we had arrived. The wait was just long enough for several in the group to grab something to eat. Our seats had not been assigned where the couples were together, but we traded among ourselves, and only Boyd ended up sitting in the row behind us. We settled into our seats on the 767 (with 9 seats across and 2 isles)for our 8 hour flight to Honolulu. Each passenger had their own monitor where they could watch certain TV shows, movies, or play games. Music was also available, and well as a flight tracker where we could monitor our progress.
We arrived in Honolulu about 4:00 p.m. Hawaii time and were met with fresh flower leis and an "aloha" greeting. After claiming all of our luggage (and yes, it all arrived safely), our transport driver delivered us to the Hawaii Prince Resort in Waikiki.
After checking in and freshening up, several of us met and walked to Bubba Gumps for a fun dinner our first night in Hawaii!
