We're on the road - it's been six months since we got our 5th wheel and this trip will be the first time we have spent more than two consecutive nights in it!! It's also our first trip off Vancouver Island. The weather is perfect for the start of our trip - sunny and hot.
We caught the 10:00am ferry from Swartz Bay and arrived at the Wild Rose Campground in Hope at 2:30pm - a nice short drive for our first day. Everything went well including driving onto the ferry - I was a bit concerned about that but it turned out to be no problem at all. We are really loaded up but the truck had absolutely no problem pulling the 5th wheel - performed beautifully.
The campground here in Hope was great and clean as a whistle - spotless washrooms and showers! We had a very nice full service pull-thru site with a few trees for shade which was great because it is hot, hot, hot - 34C. Sure glad we have a/c in both the truck and the 5th wheel. Lot's of mosquitos though - we couldn't sit outside at night for very long without risking getting bitten alive. Apparently, it's the worst year they've ever had in Hope for mosquitos.
We didn't do much after getting here - just hung around the campsite, had a barbeque, took Mo and Molly for a few walks and ended up going to bed quite early.
Tomorrow we will be taking the Fraser Canyon route from Hope to Salmon Arm where we plan to stay for two days.
