Captain John casts off the lines from the dock at home

Leaving our canal, home since I married John on Sept 7, 2001

Late afternoon sun on Lake Simcoe

After several years of preparation Captain John and I finally cast off the lines from our dock in Keswick on Lake Simcoe in Ontario and set off on our first boat trip to the sunny south. We travelled north and then east on our lovely lake for 29 miles and entered the Trent Severn Waterway where we tied up at the free wall just before Bridge #50 (Lakeshore Swing Bridge) for the night. I have been experimenting with our new handycam, something I have always wanted. It's hard to believe after all the planning that we are finally on our way!

As we travelled through Lake Simcoe our hand held GPS stopped working, not a big deal because we can replace it when we get to Peterborough. Shortly afterwords our main chartplotter also quit on us, quite a coincidence.
