Nice, Corsica, Sardinia and Bologna 2016

In 2015 a TV series, Mediterranean Island Feasts, starring the chef Yottam Ottolenghi, opened my eyes to the beauty of Corsica and Sardinia. Spectacular mountain scenery, a cuisine based on local ingredients infused with wild herbs, the gorgeous cliff-top perched town of Bonifacio in Corsica and the historic fishing village of Bosa in Sardinia. I knew I had to go!

Luckily, my friend Cathy was also inspired and we had great fun planning this trip together. I made a New Year's day resolution to learn Italian, have been doing so for about five months and am looking forward tremendously to putting it into practice.

Nice was the obvious arrival point in Europe. Only a short flight to Corsica, and much to explore with the coastal towns of the French Riviera and Provencal mountain villages. Then 8 nights in each of Corsica and Sardinia, travelling around by buses, private tours and trains, and enjoying some cooking classes. After Sardinia, Cathy will travel to Malta while I visit Bologna, the capital of Emilia Romagna in northern Italy, and the region responsible for giving the world tortellini (Bologna), prosciutto (Parma), balsamic vinegar (Modena) and Parmigiano Reggiano (parmesan cheese).

Join me on this mouth-watering adventure!
