Summer 2011 - Steve, Kathleen, Bailey and Martha's Travel Journal

Updated May 16, June 24, Oct 3

Welcome to our trip journal!

We are ending our 2011 travel adventure. We started by heading north to Mundelein, IL to visit my parents, Mom who is 96 and Dad 94. We then headed east to Lancaster County via West Virginia (to help fill in our ‘Camped Here’ map). We camped in our Oak Creek Campground campsite for three weeks while visiting friends and daughter Amy and grandson Jack. We had Jack for a sleepover and a visit the LEGO store for a kit selection before we headed northeast to our summer campsite on Mt. Desert Island and Bar Harbor, Maine.

On our way to Maine, we stopped in Mystic, CT for two nights and then in Freeport, ME for two nights. LL Bean store is in Freeport. We will reside in Bar Harbor until mid-September.

We joined the Friends of Acadia NP work crew on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings to perform various park improvement tasks.

While in Maine, we realized that Bar Harbor is where we want to spend our summers so we purchased a small house on the north end of Mt. Desert Island about 8 miles west of Bar Harbor.
