Travlin Round the Next Bend with Barb & Bruce |
|
Welcome to our trip journal! Hi, we are Bruce and Barb from rural Two Harbors, MN near Lake Superior. We have always had the traveling bug and are now embarking on an open-ended journey. We retired on Friday June 13, 2008 and will soon be traveling full time. Last year we purchased a fifth wheel trailer that we will be taking south this winter. This past summer we drove to the far north. Our destinations were Inuvik, Northwest Territories and Deadhorse, AK near Prudhoe Bay. We traveled in our pickup camper, an 11’ Lance with a 2000 Chev PU under it. We traveled 12,000 miles with about 2000 miles of it gravel. Now we have embarked on our first winter on the road down south.
I guess I should update slightly on the above. In spring 2009 we sold our home expecting to full time. However, one hour after we closed on our home we purchased a cabin on a small lake north of Two Harbors. It was just dumb luck that we did that. So now we are half time. The cabin is not winterized so in late October we head south and come back in the spring when the snow is gone. We love being at the cabin.
Bruce has always kept a "camper" journal when we have rambled on our cross country jaunts and has kept trip journals when we've been to places like New Zealand, Europe and the BVI. But those were for our enjoyment so we could keep track of what we had seen and where we had been. So back home when we disagreed about what we did where and when, the journals would settle it quick. This will be a whole new experience writing for a larger audience. We are not real techno-savvy folks, know just enough to get ourselves in trouble. Since I just scraped by in freshman english composition I write with lotsa slang so hope you find it interesting. Drop us a line if you so desire. See ya on the road. B&B Travlin Free
