THE S/V SHANASHKAT ABBY GOES SOUTH

Bill Hager and Marcel Pavard travel blog
Hello to all. This is a chronography of the trip of the s/v Shanashkat Abby and its' crew, Bill Hager and Marcel Pavard. We decided to make this trip some time in the summer of 2006. We spent most of the months of August, September and October preparing the vessel for the journey. After spending buckets of money and hours and hours working on the boat, we were finally ready to depart for the trip to Mexico.

The plan was to spend the first season in Mexico, first concentrating on the west coast of Baja and the western coast of the southern portion of Mexico from Puerto Vallarta south and then we would head for the Sea of Cortez for spring. Our second season and consequential seasons would be determined later if and when we decided that we actually liked cruising and being asea for long periods of time.

We are also traveling with three other sailing vessels. They are: s/v Buena Vista with Lee and Nancy Husband, s/v Elusive with Steve and Windy Bott and s/v Main Squeeze with Dave and Donna Bolding. Dave and Donna have a website on mytripjournal.com also. The Buena Vista is a 46 foot 1978 Formosa Peterson cutty rig. The Elusive is a 1991 45 foot J Boat sloop rig and the Main Squeeze is a 1997 42 foot Catalina sloop rig. Our boat, the Shanashkat Abby is a 1998 45 foot Hunter sloop rig. This group is prety much aligned speed-wise as we can all stay together during multi-day sails.
