Linda and Jerry on the Road to Albuquerque

Linda travel blog
Welcome to my fifth trip journal! We are poised to launch our next big adventure. We head west from our home in Sarasota, Florida on September 2 and travel to Texas and New Mexico. Our destination is Albuquerque where we will spend over a week at the annual Balloon Fiesta, the most photographed event in the world, it is said.

I first heard of this event in the 1980s and always thought it would be fun to go and so here we are.

We have four new tires on our motorhome to keep us rolling along and a new icemaker in the refrigerator to make sure our drinks are cold when we arrive at our campground. We'll be gone almost two months.

Major stops in Texas are: Austin, the Hill Country, San Antonio and the Davis Mountains in West Texas. After two weeks in Texas, we will continue our westward journey to Las Cruces, Albuquerque and Taos, New Mexico.

We've got a new wrinkle in our plans for this trip. We're going to leave our motorhome in Las Cruces after the Balloon Fiesta where it will be stored until next summer. We've set our sights on the Canadian Rockies for the summer of 2015. By leaving our RV in Las Cruces, we save 3640 miles of RV driving which translates into about $2000 worth of fuel and $1400 in storage costs, not to mention wear and tear on yours truly, Jerry and our beloved companion, Holly, who turned 13 on August 30.

Thanks for riding along. I hope you enjoy the photos and tales of yet another Spoolstra adventure.
